What's Blooming Kansas City - Forsythia

Ground hugging plants are not the only ones making an early appearance. The

Forsythia bush is an early blooming favorite of the masses. There are a number

of hybridized cultivars of this olive family member. Softwood cuttings can be

used to propagate the species easily. A bit of folklore from my mother who stated

"there will be three snows after the Forsythia blooms." While growing up in Ohio,

the saying generally held true. But in my two decades of residence in Kansas City,

I've observed the occurrence a few times.

Regardless, never doubt your mom.
